Registration for the winter semester 2022/2023

The registration period for the winter semester 2022/23 is over. Please do not register via the online form anymore.

 

The registration period for the summer semester 2023 will open in January 2022. Until then it is not possible to register.

 

 

VWU classes are generally in-classroom courses with a blended learning component: 4 days in-classroom, 1 day online. It is therefore not possible to book a fully online course. Depending on the pandemic situation, courses can change into online mode if government restrictions call for it. Should this be the case we will inform you immediately.

Please do not double-register with us, die Berater®, as well as other cooperation partners at the same time. If you register with us during the registration period and latest by 2nd of September, you will be placed in a course for the winter semester 2022/23, no need to worry.

When?

The registration period for the winter semester 2022/2023 will be open from 19th of August to 2nd of September 2022. Please book an appointment for your in-person registration and fill in the online pre-registration form on our website.

First time registration (students without matriculation number)

Who?

VWU-German courses are only open to prospective students who have been granted admission to one of the Vienna universities listed below and who yet have to prove proficiency in German to start their degree programme („Fächervorschreibung Deutsch“, EPD in your admission letter).

  • University of Vienna
  • Vienna University of Technology
  • Medical University, Vienna
  • University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna
  • University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences Vienna
  • Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration

Students with additional required subjects other than German have to register with die Berater®, a VWU cooperation partner. If your placement test shows a high enough level (FG/WF), you will subsequently be transfered to the VWU. Please keep in mind that in this case the refund of your course payment can take several weeks.

Students with Ukrainian citizenship are kindy asked to register directly at the VWU for the winter semester 2022/23 and take their placement test there.

How?

The registration for the winter semester 2022/2023 is in-person. Please make sure you can be in Vienna during the registration period.

Kindly do not attempt to register before August as we are not able to take registrations before the start of the registration period.

Please fill in the online form first to pre-register and reserve a time slot for your in-person registration. Make sure you come to your personal appointment on time.

First time registration: step by step

  • Please fill in all applicable fields of our online form to preregister and book your personal appointment.
  • Upload these three required documents:
  • Book your time slot for your in-person appointment in Vienna.
  • Don’t forget to send the online form after booking your appointment!
  • Please check the spam folder of your e-mail account in case you have not received a confirmation from us.
  • Kindly be on time for your appointment!
  • Please bring the following documents to your personal appointment:
    • Appointment confirmation
    • Passport or official ID
    • €1.290 (incl. VAT) in total – €1.275 for your course fees + € 15 for materials (course books are not included). Cash payments are not possible.
  • After we have received your payment, you will receive:
    • a payment confirmation
    • a registration confirmation for the course
    • a placement test appointment for the allocation of your German course at die Berater®
  • Please contact your university afterwards to register for the semester.
  • Send us your student data protocol (Studienblatt) and your university matriculation number after you have registered for the semester.

Payment options

You can pay during or after your personal registration appointment. Instalment payment is not possible.

  • Payment during your personal appointment:
    • Possible by card only
    • Please check your daily transaction limit on your card beforehand to ensure that the payment will work.
    • You will receive your registration confirmation immediately.
    • Cash payments are not accepted.
  • Payment after your in-person registration:
    • You will receive an email with a link to the online payment and be able to pay by credit card, PayPal or invoice.
    • After we have received the payment, your registration confirmation will be ready to download on our online learning platform Moodle.
    • If you choose payment via invoice, kindly keep in mind that it can take up to a week to receive the payment and send us a confirmation of your transaction before your placement test.
    • If you choose payment via invoice, you have the option to deposit the course fee in cash into our account at an Austrian bank. Please keep in mind that in this case the bank will charge you a fee. Cash deposit at the VWU office is not possible.

Registration is done online first and subsequently in-person at your scheduled appointment.

Take the escalator up when you enter the building. Cross the hall towards door “Stiege 4”. Go right around the corner and take the lift to the 6th floor. Exit the lift and walk through the door to the left. The registration room is 4.602.

Early registration (before the registration period)

Early registration is possible only if your visa D expires between 11.07.2022 and 24.08.2022.

When?

Early registration for the winter semester is possible from 11th of July 2022 on. We will process your application as quickly as possible.

Please do not send in your application before 11th of July. We can only accept early registrations from 11th of July on, no earlier than that.

How?

In case of early registration a confirmation for ÖGK needed for student health insurance can only be issued after the general registration period opens.

Placement testing will start at the beginning of September.

Registration for students changing from another institute

Who?

Students who have previously taken VWU German classes at Sprachenzentrum or VWU.

When?

Changing students can register from 11th of July 2022 onwards. Registrations will be processed from Monday to Wednesday.

How?

Please send an e-mail to vwu@dieberater.com and attach the following documents:

  • University admissions letter
  • Student data protocol (Studienblatt) for the summer semester 2022
  • Passport or official ID
  • Signed and ticked general terms and condition

Registration for continuing students from our institute

Who?

Continuing students (everyone who has visited a German VWU course at die Berater® institute in the summer semester 2022)

*please note that due to official regulations based on COV-19 the classroom course may have to be switched to online. As this is beyond our control, there is no possibility to withdraw from the course or to get a refund of course fees according to our terms and conditions. Please make sure that you have the necessary equipment (internet access, PC or notebook with audio and video) in case of an officially necessary change. Any costs arising from this will not be borne by the course provider.
