First Semester Registration

A. Students with German as their only prescribed subject

August 4 to August 21, 2025: Mandatory online pre-registration (upload documents online) – Deadline: August 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.
August 25 to September 4, 2025: Course registration and payment (in person) from 07:30 to 13:30 – Placement Test
By October 31, 2025: Complete university admission and pay the ÖH (Austrian Student Union) fee

First Semester Registration: Step-by-Step

Mandatory Online Pre-Registration:
- Complete all relevant fields in the online pre-registration form.
- Upload the following documents:
  - University admission letter
  - Passport or official photo ID
- You must read and accept the terms and conditions (AGBs).
- After successful pre-registration, you will receive a confirmation email with further information about in-person registration and payment. (Please also check your spam folder!)
Course Registration and Payment:
- After receiving your confirmation email, go in person to the course location:
- Course Location: Handelskai 388 (Entrance: Wehlistraße 299), 1020 Vienna
  Reception: Staircase 4, 5th floor.
- Directions within the building:
  - Enter the building and take the escalator to the foyer.
  - Turn left and go through the hall to the door labeled “Stiege 4.”
  - Turn right around the corner, then take the elevator or stairs to the 5th floor.
  - Registration takes place at the reception.
- Getting to the course location:
  - Subway: U2 Donaumarina (5-minute walk or continue with bus 77A)
  - Bus: 72A, 77A, 92A – Station: Wien Praterbrücke
- Please bring the following:
  - University admission letter
  - Passport or official photo ID
  - Course fee (cash or card – debit or credit card)
    - €500 notes are not accepted
    - Check your card limit and adjust if necessary
- After registration and payment, you will receive your placement test appointment and access to the Moodle learning platform, where you can find your registration and payment confirmation.
Placement Test: Placement takes place subject to availability on the day of registration/payment or the following day.
Completing Your University Admission:
- Contact your university to complete your admission.
- Pay the ÖH student union fee to your university.

B. Students with additional prescribed subjects besides German

Please register at the VWU (Sechshauser Straße). Information on online pre-registration and your placement test can be found at www.vwu.at.

Registration for Continuing Students (2nd or more semester)

The registration for continuing students will take place from June 20 to July 4, 2025.
Continuing students are those who have already attended a German course at VWU or a cooperation partner.
Continuing students who attended a VWU German course in summer semester 2025:
- Register via Moodle (vwu.dieberater.com).
- A detailed guide can be found in your Moodle course “Welcome to the summer semester 2025”, “Registration for winter semester 2025/26.”
Continuing students who did NOT attend a VWU German course in summer semester 2025:
- Register by submitting your most recent university record of studies (Studienblatt) to vwu@dieberater.com.
If you missed this registration phase, you may still register between August 25 and September 4, 2025, but placement is subject to availability only.

Course Fees

The course fee for winter semester 2025/26 is €1,840 incl. VAT:

€1,800 (incl. VAT) for course tuition
€40 (incl. VAT) for course materials
